Contestants in the Franklin & Marshall College Solo/Concerto Competition must be fully enrolled students at Franklin & Marshall College at both the time of the competition and the time of the performance with the Franklin & Marshall Philharmonia. Both singers and instrumentalists are eligible.

The submission deadline for the 2021 Music Composition Contest is March 1 by 12 noon.

\n\n

Any original musical composition by a full-time F&M student may be submitted; one per student is allowed.

\n\n

The award for the best composition will be presented at the Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 30.

Students who wish to give an official Senior Recital should consult with their studio instructor, who will in turn consult with the Chair of the Music Department, representing the other full-time members of the Department. If permission is granted, the student should enroll in the 300-level of the appropriate credit-bearing lessons (\"Recital Preparation\") the semester before the recital; note that two semesters of enrollment at the 200-level is a prerequisite for the 300-level. In the semester of the recital the student enrolls in the 400-level (\"Senior Recital\").

The Nolt Music Award is a grant of up to $3000 enabling Franklin & Marshall student musicians to undertake musically enriching projects. Possible projects include taking lessons with a member of a major orchestra or opera company resulting in a recital, attending a summer music festival in the U.S. or abroad, funding the premiere of a student composition, undertaking a research or field-work trip, going to a major metropolitan area to attend/critique a series of concerts or operas, or funding a tour by the Nolt Scholar's chamber ensemble.

The Adams & Gustafson Music Achievement Award is offered to rising sophomores who have shown distinction and exhibit potential in their music studies at Franklin & Marshall. Interested students must submit an application by April 1st of their first year at F&M. The award is $1250 per semester ($2500 per year) and is renewable for a total of six semesters pending eligibility.
